QIAGEN Recognized as One of the Best Companies to Work for in Life Science Industry

Award is the latest in a series of national and international recognitions recognizing QIAGEN as a leading employer

VENLO, The Netherlands, May 04, 2007 - QIAGEN N.V., the leading provider of sample and assay technologies, today announced that it has been recognized as one of the best places to work for in Life Sciences. The recognition was awarded on April 30 by "The Scientist", one of the world's leading magazines for the Life Sciences. In its 5th annual "Best Places to Work in Industry" Award the magazine surveyed representatives of 248 companies worldwide. They all assessed their working environment according to 45 criteria in eight categories such as "Research Environment", "Training and Development", "Job Satisfaction", "Remuneration and Benefits" and "Communications". QIAGEN ranks among the Top-10 companies with less than 4.000 employees.

The Scientist's award is the latest award in a series of national and international recognitions for the Company's position as an employer of talented, passionate and motivated employees. For example, in March 2007, QIAGEN was also recognized by the Corporate Research Foundation (CRF) and Geva Institut in Munich as one of Germany's "Best Company's to Work for".

"We are delighted to have received this prestigious recognition", says Peer Schatz, QIAGEN's CEO. "At QIAGEN we place highest attention on attracting, motivating and awarding talented and passionate employees. As part of this core goal, we created a comprehensive portfolio of tools and programs which support us in achieving our mission of fostering an industry-leading work environment for our almost 2'000 employees which include more than 300 scientists. This portfolio includes career development programs, competitive and performance-based compensation packages, initiatives to promote a positive work-life balance and a unique innovation-focused environment. One key factor for the exceptional commitment and high degree of job satisfaction at QIAGEN is our employees' experience working in a highly focused company at the forefront of scientific research and healthcare, allowing their contributions to have a real, measurable and important impact on building a better world."

Over the past few years, QIAGEN significantly expanded its investments in a high-performance work environment. In 2005, the Company established a global Performance Enhancement System (PES) which created a clear framework for regular, one-on-one review sessions in which managers discuss personnel and career development topics with each of their employees. These sessions include discussions on goals and their achievement, training needs and interests, career planning, organizational development and the results of regularly performed 180° surveys. In addition, the Company introduced compensation-related frameworks for performance-based compensation, new equity-based compensation standards, and numerous incentives programs such as innovation incentives.

Numerous benefits and services were introduced to help employees balance their personal life with QIAGEN's dynamic and driven work environment, including in-house corporate childcare, sabbatical programs, as well as company-sponsored fitness and health facilities and programs. In 2007, the Company rolled out its "Investing in You" program, another program to further strengthen QIAGEN's position as a top employer in North America.

"QIAGEN's work environment and the job satisfaction and advancement of exceptional employees are essential for the competitiveness in the Life Science industry", says Gerhard Sohn, Vice President Global Human Resources at QIAGEN. "This is why we significantly increased our investments in personnel development, career management and benefits programs. We are pleased to see that these programs are delivering and being recognized."
