The new, improved TissueLyser II

January 29, 2008. The new TissueLyser II, a more compact and robust version of the well-established TissueLyser, is a bead mill that rapidly and effectively disrupts up to 48 or 192 samples at the same time. By providing fast access to DNA, RNA, and protein in multiple biological samples, the instrument is ideal for high-throughput applications in fields such as systems biology.

The TissueLyser II is fully compatible with all existing TissueLyser accessories, forming a complete system for sample disruption. Accessories include TissueLyser Adapter Sets, which accommodate racks of 2 x 24 tubes or 2 x 96 tubes, TissueLyser Bead Dispensers, and a range of bead types. For disruption of larger samples, Grinding Jar Sets are available.

Effortless disruption is achieved through high-speed shaking with beads to beat and grind samples. This action also simultaneously homogenizes samples to facilitate subsequent purification procedures. Tubes remain sealed during disruption to prevent cross-contamination, which is critical for sensitive applications, such as real-time RT-PCR.

A wide variety of samples, including animal and plant tissues, bacteria, and yeast, can be disrupted to release high-quality DNA, RNA, and protein for subsequent purification and analysis. The TissueLyser II system is an integral part of QIAGEN's complete solution for tissue management - from sample collection to DNA, RNA, and protein purification.

The TissueLyser II is intended for research applications. No claim or representation is intended for its use to provide information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease.
