Gisela Orth Joins QIAGEN as Vice President Global Human Resources

Venlo, The Netherlands, February 5, 2009 - QIAGEN today announced that Gisela Orth has joined the Company as Vice President Global Human Resources on February 2nd. In her new role, she will assume responsibility for the company's global human resource department and all related activities including recruitment, human resources marketing, retention, compensation and benefits, and personnel development. Ms. Orth will be a member of QIAGEN's Executive Committee and will be based at the Company's site in Hilden, Germany.

Ms. Orth brings to QIAGEN almost twenty years of experience in international human resources, including a comprehensive track record in HR management and HR-related consulting. Her most recent position was for the leading automotive supplier Continental as a head of HR. In this role, Ms. Orth took on various assignments in Germany, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia/ Japan, where she successfully created and improved HR processes, led HR related projects and managed HR departments. She holds a MBA from the Edinburg Business School at the Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom.
