What does a transfer agent do?

A transfer agents maintains stock registries for its client companies, such as QIAGEN. It issues and cancels stock certificates, resolves issues related to lost or stolen stock certificates and answers questions from stockholders about their accounts.

What is the difference between a registered stockholder and a street-name stockholder?

You are a registered holder if you are in possession of a stock certificate. You are a street-name holder if your broker holds your shares in an account for you.

Has QIAGEN had any stock splits?

QIAGEN completed two stock splits effective as of July 05, 1999 and July 05, 2000. The stock split ratios were 2 shares to 1 share and 4 shares to 1 share, respectively.
Our stockholders authorized the above stock splits at the annual general meetings held on June 18, 1999 and June 16, 2000.
